Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of closely related experience
  • Or associate degree and six years of closely related experience
  • Or a valid California Community College credential
  • Or equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency)
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of closely related experience
  • Associate degree and six years of closely related experience
  • Valid California Community College credential
  • Equivalent education and/or experience
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (desirable)
  • FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (desirable)
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor or Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate (desirable)
  • FAA CFI Instrument or Instrument Ground Instructor Certificate (desirable)
  • Related work and professional experience
  • Experience with instructional technologies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to develop curriculum and improve student learning outcomes
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Knowledge of equity issues in education
  • Potential to contribute to institutional vitality and growth
  • Knowledge of community college mission and goals

Job Duties

  • Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position and currency in teaching flight science
  • Teach lecture based flight science classes
  • Teach lab based flight science classes at Fresno Air Terminal
  • Teach other related classes such as Private Pilot Ground School 1 and 2, Private Pilot Labs, simulation labs, Aviation History, Careers in Aviation, Remote Pilot Ground School
  • Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate instructional delivery systems including face-to-face, on-line, and hybrid formats
  • Communicate effectively with students
  • Evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and oral responses
  • Provide course syllabi to students
  • Maintain classroom records according to district policy
  • Submit all required grading and evaluation reports timely
  • Fulfill all instructor duties as required by Administrative Regulation 7122
