Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required or 4 years relevant work experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience in emergency medical services
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience in emergency medical services
  • Nationally registered and Virginia State Intermediate or Paramedic certification required or licensed as a registered nurse in Virginia
  • AHA BLS - HCP, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and PHTLS or BTLS certifications required within one year of hire
  • Effective team building and leadership skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and priority-setting skills
  • Ability to work competency and manage multiple responsibilities

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Clinical experience in emergency medical services
  • Supervisory experience in healthcare or emergency services
  • Knowledge of air medevac, dispatch, ground EMS, pediatric-neonatal transport care, critical care nursing, or transfer center operations preferred
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop performance improvement projects
  • Experience working collaboratively with clinical teams
  • Commitment to safety and quality in patient care

Job Duties

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the patient transport department as related to goals and objectives
  • Organize, manage, and control departmental functions and resources collaboratively for optimal service performance
  • Coordinate staffing resources to ensure adequate department coverage
  • Demonstrate effective team building and leadership skills
  • Establish daily priorities and assign staff tasks
  • Facilitate problem-solving processes among teams
  • Monitor and evaluate customer satisfaction, developing programs to enhance service quality
  • Facilitate professional growth and inservice training
  • Implement and monitor the department budget and control expenses
  • Support service line mission, goals, and objectives
  • Create a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment for patients and families
  • Monitor quality, appropriateness, and safety of care provided
  • Communicate timely and accurate information to stakeholders
  • Establish forums for proactive two-way communication with staff
