Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum 36 months recent experience in busy 911 or flight transport within last 5 years
  • registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
  • ability to maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
  • completion of specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) within two years of hire
  • current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications
  • completion of advanced trauma course prior to third-rider orientation
  • NRP certification prior to third-rider orientation
  • NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat upon hire
  • positive interpersonal skills
  • ability to work flexible schedule including 24/7 on-call
  • dependable and self-motivated
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • at least three years related experience or equivalent education and experience
  • bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
  • minimum three years recent experience in busy 911 system
  • previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred
  • skills as required by state paramedic scope and Medical Director standards
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • critical thinking and attention to detail in fast-paced environment
  • ability to work flexible schedule with overtime and on-call
  • proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • registered EMT-P licensed in served state(s)
  • specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two years
  • current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
  • advanced trauma course certification

Job Duties

  • Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is transferred
  • maintains thorough patient care documentation
  • practices within scope as defined by state regulations and Air Methods CBS
  • maintains competency with ongoing lab and clinical experiences
  • communicates educational needs to supervisors
  • maintains required licensure, certifications, training documentation
  • attends minimum of six educational programs yearly
  • knowledgeable in equipment use and maintenance
  • reports equipment failures and ensures repair
  • maintains adequate supplies onboard
  • keeps aircraft clean and orderly for rapid response
  • participates in patient and institution follow-ups and outreach education
  • functions as a flight crew member attending briefings and completing mission documentation
  • assists pilot with radio, navigational, and observational tasks
  • complies with safety standards protecting crew, patient, and equipment
  • conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed
  • serves as flight resource for neonatal/pediatric patients
  • performs advanced skills approved by Medical Director(s)
  • acts as role model, educator, and clinical resource
  • participates in departmental activities, projects, committees
  • stays current on pre-hospital care issues through professional involvement
  • performs other duties as assigned
