Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 36 months experience in busy 911 transport or flight setting within last 5 years
  • Maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
  • Ability to work 24-hour shifts and flexible schedule including overtime
  • Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
  • Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS and advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS certifications
  • Specialty certification FP-C or CCP-C required within two years
  • Complete advanced trauma course prior to third-rider orientation
  • NRP certification prior to third-rider orientation
  • Complete NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat upon hire
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, changing environments
  • Maintain positive interpersonal skills
  • Comply with all Air Methods safety policies and procedures
  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Ability to travel approximately 5% of the time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with related experience or equivalent combination
  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
  • Minimum three years recent experience in a busy 911 system
  • Previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships and collaboration
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking and multitasking abilities
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
  • National Certification as required for state licensure
  • Specialty certification FP-C or CCP-C within two years of hire
  • Current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
  • Certification in advanced trauma course
  • NRP certification prior to third-rider orientation

Job Duties

  • Provide pre-hospital advanced life support care including assessment, triage, and treatment until patient handover
  • Maintain thorough patient care documentation
  • Practice within scope of practice as defined by state and Air Methods CBS
  • Participate in ongoing clinical education and competency training
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, and training documentation
  • Perform routine maintenance and report any medical equipment failures
  • Keep aircraft clean and ensure readiness for rapid response
  • Participate in patient follow-up and community outreach
  • Attend mission briefings, complete pre-mission checklist, assist pilots as needed
  • Comply with safety standards for personnel, patients, and equipment
  • Conduct aircraft safety briefings
  • Serve as a flight resource for neonatal/pediatric patient transport
  • Act as role model, educator, and clinical resource
  • Participate in departmental projects and professional development activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
