Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 36 months experience in busy 911 transport or flight setting within last five years
  • Registered EMT-P license in state(s) of service
  • Specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) within two years
  • Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS certifications
  • Advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS if applicable
  • Completion of approved advanced trauma course
  • NRP certification prior to orientation
  • Completion of NIMS and HazMat training
  • Ability to maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds with gear
  • Ability to work 24-hour shifts including overtime and on-call rotations
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and at least three years related experience or equivalent combination
  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
  • Minimum three years recent experience in busy 911 system
  • Previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred
  • Skills as required to practice as paramedic under state scope and advanced skills per Medical Director
  • Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
  • National certification if required
  • Specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) within two years of hire
  • Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications
  • Advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS if required
  • Completion of advanced trauma course such as TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TNATC or CAMTS-approved course
  • NRP certification prior to third-rider orientation
  • Completion of NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat upon hire

Job Duties

  • Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished
  • Maintains thorough patient care documentation
  • Practices within defined scope of practice and maintains competency through ongoing education
  • Communicates educational needs to Medical Base Supervisor and Medical Education Coordinator
  • Maintains documentation of licensure, certifications, continuing education, and required trainings
  • Knowledgeable in use and maintenance of all medical equipment and supplies
  • Reports equipment failures and ensures timely repairs
  • Maintains adequate onboard supplies and cleanliness of aircraft
  • Participates in patient and institution follow-up, marketing, and education activities
  • Attends pre-mission briefings and debriefings, completing necessary documentation
  • Assists pilot with radio, navigational, and visual observation activities
  • Complies with safety standards ensuring safety of self, personnel, patient, and equipment
  • Conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed
  • Serves as medical flight resource for neonatal/pediatric specialty transports
  • Performs advanced procedures approved by Medical Director
  • Acts as role model, educator, and clinical resource
  • Participates in departmental activities, projects, committees, and research
  • Maintains awareness of current pre-hospital care issues
  • Performs other assigned duties
