Job Requirements

  • Minimum 36 months recent experience in busy 911 or flight transport within last 5 years
  • maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including gear
  • high school diploma or GED
  • registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
  • hold mandatory certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS/PHTLS, advanced trauma course, NRP, NIMS training
  • ability to work 24-hour shifts and 24/7 on-call rotation
  • dependable and self-motivated
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • able to attend minimum 6 educational programs annually
  • comply with Air Methods' safety policies
  • travel up to 5% of the time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum three years recent experience in busy 911 system
  • critical care transport and flight experience preferred
  • registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
  • national certification if required
  • specialty certification FP-C or CCP-C within two years of hire
  • current healthcare provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications
  • advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS if required
  • advanced trauma course completion
  • NRP certification
  • NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat upon hire
  • proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • high critical thinking and reasoning abilities
  • flexible schedule availability including overtime and on-call

Job Duties

  • Provide pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial patient contact to transfer to medical facility
  • maintain thorough patient care documentation
  • practice within scope of state and Air Methods CBS regulations
  • maintain competency through ongoing laboratory and clinical education
  • communicate educational needs to supervisors
  • maintain required licensure, certifications, and training records
  • attend minimum six educational programs annually
  • knowledge and routine maintenance of Air Methods CBS equipment
  • report and assist in repair of medical equipment failures
  • maintain adequate medical supplies onboard aircraft
  • ensure aircraft cleanliness and readiness
  • participate in patient follow-up and outreach activities
  • attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings
  • assist pilot with radio, navigation, and visual observation as needed
  • comply with safety standards for self, crew, patient, and equipment
  • conduct aircraft safety briefings
  • serve as medical resource for neonatal/pediatric transports
  • perform advanced medical procedures as approved
  • act as role model, educator and clinical resource
  • participate in departmental projects and committees
  • maintain awareness of current pre-hospital care issues
  • other duties as assigned
