Job Requirements
- Certified paramedic with at least three years of ALS/911 experience
- ability to obtain Tennessee paramedic license within 90 days if not currently licensed
- advanced trauma certification such as ITLS or PHTLS
- commitment to acquire Flight Paramedic Certification or CCP-C within 24 months
- valid driver's license plus required insurance coverage
- compliance with driving record standards
- strong pharmacology and ventilator management knowledge
- proficiency with advanced medical equipment
- ability to perform advanced life support procedures
- excellent communication and teamwork skills
- willingness to participate in ongoing training and education
- adherence to safety and regulatory standards
Job Qualifications
- Minimum three years of paramedic experience in a high-volume ALS/911 system
- strong knowledge of pharmacology, ventilator management, and critical care transport protocols
- flight or critical care transport experience preferred
- must have or be able to obtain Tennessee paramedic license within 90 days
- advanced trauma certification required
- must obtain Flight Paramedic Certification or Critical Care Paramedic Certification within 24 months of hire
- valid driver's license and meet insurance and driving record standards
Job Duties
- Deliver high-quality advanced and critical care
- perform advanced life support procedures including advanced airway management, IV/IO access, pharmacologic interventions, cardiac monitoring, and ventilator management
- assess, treat, and document all patient encounters accurately
- operate and maintain proficiency with advanced medical equipment
- collaborate closely with the Flight Nurse partner
- ensure smooth transitions of care by effective communication
- participate in all pre-flight and post-flight briefings and adhere to aviation and safety standards
- conduct pre-flight equipment checks
- comply with all regulatory operational standards
- maintain situational awareness and assist pilots and crew in flight safety
- report safety hazards and incidents immediately
- maintain compliance with Tennessee EMS, CAMTS, and internal policies
- ensure DEA and controlled substance accountability
- participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives
- maintain readiness for audits and inspections
- maintain required licensure and certifications
- participate in skills validation, simulation training, and safety drills
- serve as preceptor or mentor
- maintain competency in clinical and operational subjects
- foster professional teamwork and collaboration
- communicate effectively with ground EMS and hospital personnel
- support Covenant Health's mission and values through professionalism and compassion
- follow policies and complete required education assignments
- perform other duties as assigned
