Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum 36 months experience in busy 911 transport or flight paramedic setting within last 5 years
- registered EMT-P license in state(s) served
- specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within 2 years
- current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, ITLS or PHTLS certifications as required
- completion of approved advanced trauma course prior to orientation
- NRP certification prior to third-rider orientation
- completion of NIMS IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat training upon hire
- ability to maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including gear
- ability to work 24-hour shifts and flexible overtime schedules
- strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- dependable and self-motivated
- proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with three years’ related experience or equivalent
- bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred
- minimum three years’ recent experience in a busy 911 system
- previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred
- skills to practice as paramedic within state scope and advanced practices
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- high critical thinking and attention to detail
- ability to work flexible schedules including overtime and on-call
- proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
- national certification as required
- specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two years
- current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, ITLS or PHTLS certifications
- completion of advanced trauma course (TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TNATC or CAMTS-approved)
- NRP certification prior to third-rider orientation
- completion of NIMS and HazMat training upon hire
Job Duties
- Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished
- maintains thorough patient care documentation
- practices within scope of practice defined by state and Air Methods CBS
- maintains competency through ongoing education and clinical experiences
- communicates educational needs to supervisors
- maintains licensure, certifications, and documentation
- knowledgeable in use and maintenance of medical equipment
- reports and assists in repair of equipment failures
- maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft
- keeps aircraft clean and orderly
- participates in patient and referring institution follow-up
- attends pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings
- assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and pilot support
- complies with safety standards
- conducts aircraft safety briefings
- serves as flight resource for neonatal/pediatric transport
- performs advanced skills as approved by Medical Director(s)
- acts as role model, educator, and clinical resource
- participates in departmental projects and committees
- maintains awareness of pre-hospital care issues
- performs additional duties as assigned
