Job Requirements
- Completion of 30 semester hours of college
- Five years full-time experience as an ALS provider
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic Certification or National Registry EMT-Paramedic certification
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current PHTLS or equivalent certification
- Letter of support from Medical Director or supervisor
- Meet physical fitness requirements established by Travis County
- Subject to Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program including testing
- Certified Flight Paramedic within two years of employment
Job Qualifications
- Completion of 30 semester hours of college or equivalent education and experience
- Five years full-time experience as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider
- Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic Certification or National Registry EMT-Paramedic certification
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Current Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or equivalent certification
- Letter of support from Medical Director or supervisor
- Ability to meet physical fitness requirements
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Certified Flight Paramedic within two years of employment
- Preferred previous rotor or fixed-wing flight experience
- Preferred critical care experience
- Preferred Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, TPATC, Neonatal Resuscitation Program certifications
- Preferred training in Incident Command principles
- Preferred proficiency in Low to High Angle and Swift Water Rescue
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency
Job Duties
- Assess, plan treatment and administer care to critically injured/ill adult and pediatric patients
- Document patient assessments, treatment plans, and patient outcomes
- Provide quality assurance and improvement of patient care and documentation
- Perform aviation-related duties including navigation assistance, radio communication, obstacle and aircraft avoidance, and coordination of landing zones
- Provide patient care follow-up by consulting with hospital medical staff
- Represent STAR Flight at public relations and educational events
- Maintain proficiency and evaluate risks and benefits of rescue operations in both helicopter and ground scenarios
