Job Requirements
- Completion of thirty semester hours of college or equivalent experience
- Five years full-time advanced life support provider experience
- Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic Certification or National Registry EMT-Paramedic
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Current Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or equivalent certification
- Letter of support from medical director or supervisor
- Must meet physical fitness standards established by Travis County for STAR Flight
- Subject to mandated anti-drug and alcohol misuse prevention program, including pre-employment testing
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Flight Paramedic Certification required within two years of employment
Job Qualifications
- Completion of thirty semester hours of college or equivalent experience
- Five years full-time advanced life support (ALS) provider experience
- Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic Certification or National Registry EMT-Paramedic certification
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Current Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or equivalent certification
- Letter of support from medical director or supervisor
- Flight Paramedic Certification required within two years of employment
- Preferred rotor or fixed-wing flight experience
- Critical care experience
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support or equivalent
- Advanced Trauma Life Support or neonatal resuscitation training
- Training in Incident Command principles
- Proficiency in low to high angle and swift water rescue techniques
- Helicopter rescue experience
- Bilingual oral proficiency in English and Spanish
Job Duties
- Assess, plan treatment and administer care to critically injured or ill adult and pediatric patients
- Document patient assessments, treatment plans and outcomes
- Provide quality assurance and improvement of patient care and documentation
- Perform aviation-related duties including navigation assistance, radio communication, and coordination of landing zones
- Provide patient care follow-up by consulting with hospital medical staff
- Represent STAR Flight at public relations events and educational in-services
- Maintain mission readiness through daily inspection of medical and rescue equipment and study of related information
