Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree
- minimum 36 months of experience in a busy 911 transport or flight setting within last five years
- registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
- specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two years of hire
- current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
- proficiency in advanced trauma course and NRP certification
- maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- participate in ongoing lab and clinical experiences
- maintain documentation for licenses, certifications, training
- comply with safety standards
- excellent interpersonal skills
- ability to work flexible schedule with overtime and 24/7 on-call rotation
- willingness to travel approximately 5 percent
- meet physical and medical standards for flight paramedics
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum three years recent experience in a busy 911 system
- registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served
- national certification as required for licensure
- specialty certification (FP-C or CCP-C) within two years of hire
- current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent, ITLS or PHTLS if required
- advanced trauma course (TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TNATC or CAMTS-approved) prior to third-rider orientation
- NRP certification prior to third rider orientation
- NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat upon hire
- proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- excellent communication and presentation skills
- ability to work flexible schedule including overtime and on-call rotation
- strong critical thinking and multi-tasking abilities
- dependable and self-motivated
Job Duties
- Provide pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility
- maintain thorough patient care documentation
- practice within scope of practice as defined by state regulations and Air Methods CBS
- maintain competency in skills through ongoing education and training
- communicate educational needs to supervisors
- maintain documentation for licensure, certifications, and training
- operate and maintain medical equipment
- report equipment failures and ensure repair
- maintain supplies on aircraft
- keep aircraft clean and ready for rapid response
- participate in patient and referring institution follow-up and outreach activities
- function as medical flight member attending briefings and debriefings
- assist in pre-mission checklists and support pilot as needed
- comply with safety standards to ensure safety of self, crew, patient, and equipment
- conduct aircraft safety briefings
- serve as resource for neonatal/pediatric specialty patient transport
- perform advanced approved skills and procedures
- act as role model, educator, and clinical resource
- participate in departmental activities, projects, committees, research, and professional development
- maintain awareness of pre-hospital care issues
- other duties as assigned
- maintain regular attendance
- travel approximately 5 percent of the time
