Job Requirements
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
- minimum three years of critical care or emergency nursing experience within last five years
- maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- current RN license
- EMS or MICN certification as required by state
- current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
- complete advanced trauma course (TPATC, TNCC, ATCN, TNATC, or CAMTS-approved) before third-rider training
- complete NRP and NIMS IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat training before third-rider training
- specialty certification (CFRN or CEN) within 24 months of hire
- ability to work 24/7 on-call rotation
- ability to travel up to 5 percent of time
- dependable and self-motivated
- excellent communication skills
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
- bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred
- minimum three years of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within last five years
- pre-hospital experience preferred
- flight experience a plus
- maintain positive interpersonal relationships
- demonstrate critical thinking and strong attention to detail
- ability to work flexible schedule including 24/7 on-call rotation
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- current RN license for states of practice
- EMS or MICN certification as required
- current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and advanced trauma provider certifications as required
- specialty certification such as CFRN or CEN within 24 months of hire
- complete NRP certification before third-rider orientation
- complete NIMS and HazMat training before third-rider training
Job Duties
- Provide nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to accepting facility
- maintain thorough patient care documentation
- maintain competency through ongoing clinical experiences and training
- communicate educational needs to supervisors
- maintain medical equipment and supplies onboard aircraft
- report equipment failures and ensure repair
- maintain cleanliness and order on aircraft
- attend pre-mission briefings and assist with liftoff checklist
- comply with safety standards for self, crew, and patient
- conduct aircraft safety briefings as necessary
- serve as flight resource for neonatal and pediatric patients
- perform advanced skills as approved by Medical Director
- participate in patient and institution follow-up and outreach activities
- act as preceptor and assist with orientation of new staff
- participate in Air Methods meetings and projects
- perform other duties as assigned
