Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 36 months experience in ICU, ER, flight, or critical care transport settings within last five years
  • graduate of accredited nursing school
  • current RN license(s)
  • EMS or MICN certification as required
  • maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
  • current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, and advanced trauma certifications
  • completion of NRP and NIMS training
  • participate in ongoing competency and continuing education
  • ability to work two 24-hour shifts per week
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to comply with safety and operational protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred
  • minimum three years of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience
  • pre-hospital experience preferred
  • current RN license for state(s) of practice
  • EMS or MICN certification as required
  • current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS and trauma certifications
  • specialty certification (CFRN or CEN) required within 24 months of hire
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • excellent communication and presentation skills
  • ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7 on-call
  • strong critical thinking and multitasking abilities

Job Duties

  • Provide nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact until patient care is transferred
  • maintain thorough patient care documentation
  • maintain competency through ongoing education and clinical experiences
  • communicate educational needs to supervisors
  • use and maintain medical equipment and supplies
  • report equipment failures and ensure repair
  • keep aircraft clean and orderly
  • attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings
  • assist pilots with radio, navigational and observational support
  • comply with safety standards and conduct safety briefings
  • serve as medical resource for neonatal/pediatric air transports
  • participate in patient and institution follow-up and outreach
  • act as preceptor or participate in orientation of new staff and students
  • participate in team meetings, projects, committees, and research opportunities
  • perform other duties as assigned
