Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- minimum 36 months of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within the last five years
- current RN license(s) for state(s) of practice
- EMS or MICN certification as required
- current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, and advanced trauma certifications
- maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- ability to work two 24-hour shifts per week
- dependable and self-motivated
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to prioritize and multi-task in fast-paced environment
- willing to participate in continuing education and maintain required documentation and certifications
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred but not required
- minimum three years of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within last five years
- pre-hospital experience preferred
- flight experience a plus
- maintain nursing practice scope as defined by state and medical director
- current RN license for state of practice
- EMS or MICN certification as required
- current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
- advanced trauma certification such as TPATC, TNCC, ATCN, or equivalent within required timeframe
- NRP certification before orientation completion
- NIMS training including IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat
- ability to work flexible schedule including overtime and on-call
- excellent communication and presentation skills
- proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Job Duties
- Provide nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the receiving facility
- maintain thorough patient care documentation
- maintain competency in clinical skills through ongoing education and training
- communicate educational needs to supervisors
- use and maintain equipment and supplies onboard aircraft
- report medical equipment failures and ensure repair
- maintain adequate supplies and cleanliness of aircraft
- attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings
- assist pilot with radio, navigational, and visual observation tasks as needed
- comply with safety standards and conduct aircraft safety briefings
- serve as a flight resource for neonatal and pediatric patient transport
- perform advanced skills and procedures approved by medical director
- participate in patient and referring institution follow-up
- engage in outreach marketing and educational activities
- act as preceptor or participate in new employee and student orientation
- attend Air Methods CBS meetings, activities, projects, and committees
- perform other duties as assigned
