Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum three years of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within the last five years
- Current RN license(s) for states of practice
- EMS or MICN certification or licensure as required by states
- Current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
- Specialty certification CFRN or CEN within 24 months of hire
- Completion of advanced trauma course approved by Air Methods
- NRP certification before third-rider orientation
- NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat
- Ability to maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- Ability to work flexible schedule including overtime and 24/7 on-call rotation
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Regularly scheduled attendance
- Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Suite
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred but not required
- Minimum three years of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within the last five years
- Pre-hospital experience preferred
- Flight experience is a plus
- Current RN license(s) for states of practice
- EMS or MICN certification or licensure as required by state regulations
- Current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent, and TPATC/TNCC/ITLS/PHTLS advanced provider if required
- Specialty certification CFRN or CEN required within 24 months of hire
- Completion of advanced trauma course such as TPATC, TNCC, ATCN, TNATC, or CAMTS-approved course
- NRP certification before completion of third-rider orientation
- NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat prior to third-rider training
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Job Duties
- Provide nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact until patient care is relinquished
- Maintain thorough patient care documentation
- Participate in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences to maintain competency
- Communicate educational needs to Medical Base Supervisor and Medical Education Coordinator
- Maintain documentation of licensure, certifications, training, and continuing education
- Use and maintain medical equipment and supplies onboard aircraft
- Report medical equipment failures and ensure repairs are initiated
- Maintain adequate patient care supplies onboard aircraft
- Keep aircraft clean and orderly
- Attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings
- Complete necessary mission documentation
- Assist in pre-mission liftoff checklist and support pilot with radio, navigational, and visual observation activities
- Comply with safety standards for personnel, patients, and equipment
- Conduct aircraft safety briefings
- Serve as a flight resource to neonatal and pediatric personnel during specialty transports
- Perform advanced medical skills as approved by Medical Director(s)
- Participate in patient and referring institution follow-up
- Engage in planned outreach marketing and education activities
- Act as preceptor or participate in orientation of new employees and students
- Participate regularly in Air Methods CBS meetings, activities, projects, and committees including research and publishing
- Perform other duties as assigned
