Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or associate degree in nursing with enrollment in a BSN program with signed agreement
- Registered Nurse license by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
- Certification in basic life support, pediatric advanced life support, neonatal resuscitation, advanced cardiac life support, neonatal pediatric transport, and critical care registered nurse within specified periods after hire
- US passport or international documentation for travel within 4 months of hire
- A minimum of 3 years critical care experience in pediatric/neonatal intensive care or pediatric emergency center in a Level 1 trauma center with CPEN certification
- Ability to work flexible hours including beyond normal shifts
- Commitment to safety procedures and policies
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Participate in education, quality councils, and research
- Maintain clinical competence across transport nursing skills and systems
- Ability to complete mission tasks during assigned shifts including additional hours beyond normal work times
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or associate degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
- Registered Nurse licensure by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
- Current certifications in BLS, PALS, NRP, ACLS, CNPT and CCRN within specified timeframes
- Minimum of 3 years critical care experience in pediatric or neonatal intensive care or pediatric emergency center experience in a Level 1 trauma center with CPEN certification
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, autonomous evaluation and therapeutic intervention skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to professional development and quality improvement
- Ability to handle conflict professionally and adapt to ongoing changes in clinical settings
Job Duties
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care to critically ill patients including neonates, pediatric and adult patients
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and provide therapeutic, emergency interventions and preparation for transport
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to problem solve and implement interventions to maximize patient outcomes
- Provide care within policies, protocols, guidelines and scope of practice defined by the State of Texas
- Maintain complete and accurate patient care records
- Serve as patient and family advocate while maintaining confidentiality
- Communicate effectively and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, patients, families and other institutions
- Participate in quality initiatives, data collection and research activities
- Ensure smooth and safe program operations including equipment checks and supply inventory
- Maintain professional development and clinical competence across all aspects of transport nursing including advanced skills and system use
- Participate in debriefings and respond to transport/code/rapid response events
