Job Requirements

  • Minimum 36 months experience in ICU, ER, Flight, or Critical Care Transport within last 5 years
  • Graduate of accredited nursing program
  • Current RN license and relevant certifications
  • Ability to maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds including gear
  • Ability to work flexible schedule with 24/7 on-call shifts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Reliable attendance
  • Willingness to participate in continuing education and training
  • Compliance with Air Methods policies and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred
  • Minimum three years of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within last five years
  • Pre-hospital experience preferred
  • Flight experience valued but not required
  • Proven skills in advanced nursing practices and adherence to state scope of practice
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Current RN license for practicing state
  • EMS or MICN certification per state regulations
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and advanced trauma provider courses
  • Specialty certification such as CFRN or CEN within 24 months of hire
  • Completion of NRP certification and NIMS training as required

Job Duties

  • Provides nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact to patient handoff
  • Maintains thorough patient care documentation
  • Maintains competency through ongoing education and clinical experiences
  • Uses and maintains medical equipment and supplies on aircraft
  • Participates in pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings
  • Assists pilots with radio, navigational, and safety tasks
  • Acts as a resource for neonatal and pediatric specialty transports
  • Participates in follow-up, outreach, and education activities
  • Serves as preceptor or participates in orientation of new employees and students
  • Attends meetings, projects, and committees including research and publishing opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
