Job Requirements
- Minimum 36 months of experience in a busy ICU, ER, flight, or critical care transport setting within the last 5 years
- graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- current RN license(s)
- EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required
- current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS certifications
- advanced trauma provider certification if required
- specialty certification (CFRN or CEN) within 24 months of hire
- maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- ability to work two 24-hour shifts per week
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- excellent interpersonal skills
- ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- flexible work schedule including 24/7 on-call rotation
- dependable and self-motivated
- regular attendance
- participate in training including NRP and NIMS IS courses
- participate in continuing education and maintain certification requirements
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred but not required
- minimum three years of recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last five years
- pre-hospital experience preferred
- flight experience is a plus
- current RN license for states of practice
- EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations
- current certifications in healthcare provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent, and advanced trauma provider certifications if required
- specialty certification (CFRN or CEN) required within 24 months
- proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- ability to work flexible schedule including overtime and on-call
- strong communication and presentation skills
Job Duties
- Provides nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to accepting medical facility
- maintains thorough patient care documentation
- maintains competency by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences
- communicates educational needs to supervisors
- maintains required licensure, certifications, and training documentation
- knowledgeable in using and maintaining all medical equipment and supplies
- reports equipment failures and ensures repair
- maintains adequate supplies on board
- keeps aircraft clean and orderly
- attends pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings
- completes necessary documentation
- assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested
- complies with safety standards for self, crew, patients, and equipment
- conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed
- serves as a flight resource for neonatal/pediatric transports
- performs advanced skills and procedures as approved
- participates in patient and referring institution follow-up
- participates in outreach, marketing, and education activities
- acts as preceptor or participates in orientation of new employees and students
- participates in meetings, projects, and committees including research and publishing opportunities
- performs other duties as assigned
