Job Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • minimum three years critical care/emergency nursing experience within last five years
  • current RN license
  • EMS or MICN certification as required by state
  • current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications
  • maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds including gear
  • specialty certification (CFRN or CEN) required within 24 months
  • advanced trauma course certification prior to third-rider training
  • NRP certification before orientation
  • NIMS IS 100, 200, 700, 800, HazMat training before third-rider training
  • dependable and self-motivated
  • ability to work flexible schedule including overnight shifts and on-call rotation
  • excellent communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
  • minimum three years of recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within last five years
  • pre-hospital experience preferred
  • flight experience a plus
  • skills required to practice nursing as defined by state scope and medical director
  • positive interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • high critical thinking and attention to detail
  • flexible scheduling ability including overtime and on-call
  • excellent written and verbal communication
  • proficient in Microsoft Office
  • current RN license for state of practice
  • EMS or MICN certification as required
  • current BLS, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications
  • advanced provider trauma certification as required
  • specialty certification (CFRN or CEN) within 24 months of hire
  • advanced trauma course certification before third-rider training
  • NRP certification before third-rider orientation
  • NIMS and HazMat training before third-rider training

Job Duties

  • Provide nursing care within scope of practice from initial contact until patient is transferred to accepting facility
  • maintain detailed patient care documentation
  • participate in ongoing clinical and laboratory skill development
  • communicate educational needs to supervisors
  • maintain licensure, certifications, and training documentation
  • use and maintain all medical equipment and supplies
  • report medical equipment failures and assist in ensuring repair
  • keep adequate medical supplies onboard
  • keep aircraft clean and orderly
  • attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings
  • assist in pre-mission liftoff checklist and pilot support as requested
  • comply with safety standards and conduct aircraft safety briefings
  • serve as flight resource for neonatal/pediatric transports
  • perform advanced skills and procedures as approved
  • participate in patient and institution follow-up
  • engage in outreach marketing and education
  • act as preceptor or participate in orientation of new employees and students
  • attend meetings, activities, projects, and committees including research and publishing
  • perform other duties as assigned
