Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- minimum three years recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within last five years
- current RN license(s) for states of practice
- current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
- EMS or MICN certification as required by state regulations
- maintain weight not exceeding 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
- participate in ongoing education and training
- ability to work two 24-hour shifts per week
- compliance with Air Methods employment policies
- maintain all required licenses, certifications, and training according to guidelines
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred but not required
- minimum three years recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within last five years
- pre-hospital experience preferred
- flight experience is a plus
- skills required to practice nursing under state scope and medical director guidelines
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- high critical thinking and prioritization skills
- ability to work flexible schedule including overtime and 24/7 on-call
- dependable and self-motivated
- proficient with Microsoft Suite
- current RN license for states of practice
- EMS or MICN certification as required
- current BLS, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certification
- trauma certification (TPATC, TNCC, etc.) required within 24 months of hire
- NRP certification before orientation completion
- NIMS training before orientation completion
Job Duties
- Provides nursing care within scope of practice from initial patient contact until care handoff
- maintains thorough patient care documentation
- maintains competency through ongoing lab and clinical experiences
- communicates educational needs to supervisors
- maintains required licensure, certifications, continuing education, and training
- knowledgeable in use and maintenance of all equipment and supplies
- reports equipment failures and ensures repairs
- maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft
- keeps aircraft clean and orderly
- attends pre-mission briefings and debriefings
- completes necessary documentation
- assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and pilot support tasks
- complies with safety standards and conducts aircraft safety briefings
- serves as flight resource for neonatal/pediatric patients
- performs advanced skills and procedures as approved
- participates in patient and institution follow-up, outreach marketing, and education activities
- acts as preceptor or participates in orientation programs
- participates in meetings, activities, projects, and committees
- performs other duties as assigned
