Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 12 months of experience operating maintenance equipment or facility maintenance experience
  • valid driver’s license
  • must successfully pass criminal background check including convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses and offenses under A.C.A. 21-15-103 or A.C.A. 21-15-111
  • ability to use mathematics involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and/or calculating ratios, rates and percents
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • ability to speak clearly and be understood on radio systems and understand communications for safety
  • ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide positive service
  • ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
  • ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • ability to detect and correct or refer operating deficiencies
  • regularly required to talk and hear for safety or equipment operation
  • required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands
  • ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • regularly required to lift/move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 12 months of experience operating maintenance equipment or facility maintenance experience
  • certifications from National Air Transportation Association (NATA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and/or the National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) related to flight line operations preferred
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to use mathematics involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and/or calculating ratios, rates and percents
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • ability to speak clearly and be understood on radio systems, as well as understand what is being said by others on the radio systems
  • ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide service in a positive, friendly manner
  • ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
  • ability to work independently and to make sound decisions relative to the work
  • ability to detect and correct or refer to proper authority any operating deficiencies in equipment

Job Duties

  • Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers
  • maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees, especially members of their own team
  • have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive
  • monitor access to the terminal aircraft parking area and restrict access as may be appropriate
  • move aircraft in and out of hangars and on ramp areas using hand and motor-drive tugs
  • park, fuel and tie down/chock aircraft
  • perform minor service such as airing tires on aircraft and adding oil as needed
  • load and/or unload baggage
  • use airport and City radio networks to communicate with aircraft, Control Tower and Line Control
  • process credit, charge and cash payments, balance cash drawer and prepare related reports
  • refill fuel service trucks, take readings on trucks and tanks, perform fuel quality testing and complete fuel storage inspection reports
  • perform scheduled inventory of fuel and oil
  • maintain fuel trucks and fuel storage tanks
  • communicate airport advisories using appropriate systems
  • ensure parking apron is clear of debris
  • report lights out and other maintenance issues to responsible authority for repair
  • perform grounds and facility maintenance, including custodial duties, as required
  • perform routine maintenance on airport vehicles and equipment
  • serve in a designated “on-call” status on a rotating basis to respond to service calls outside normal operating hours
  • serve as backup for Customer Service Team, providing assistance and convenience services as requested
  • perform other duties as assigned
