Job Requirements

  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate
  • valid medical certificate
  • ability to perform flight training in single engine aircraft
  • CFII rating required for Level II instructors at time of hire or earned while employed
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • knowledge of FAA regulations
  • excellent communication skills
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • ability to maintain flight proficiency
  • ability to adhere to departmental policies

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate required
  • CFII/MEI certificate preferred
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • valid medical certificate required
  • knowledge of flight instruction instrumentation and equipment
  • strong interpersonal and human relations skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to instruct, teach, and tutor
  • ability to approach problems analytically
  • ability to reason logically and methodically
  • ability to perform under stressful circumstances
  • attentiveness to detail

Job Duties

  • Participates in standardization training for each course taught and equipment used
  • maintains flight proficiency for each course instructed
  • adheres to FAA regulations and departmental policies and procedures
  • researches new and improved teaching techniques
  • meets with each student as scheduled
  • ensures flight lessons are completed according to Training Course Outline specifications
  • ensures all appropriate endorsements are made in student flight and personal logbooks
  • submits requests for stage checks upon completion of each flight training stage with Office Supervisor
  • ensures all flight lessons and flight books are completed before stage check requests
  • ensures all training activities, flights, and briefings are conducted during normal business hours
  • pulls aircraft in/out of hangar
  • helps in tying down aircraft
  • assists in departmental activities
  • attends meetings
  • performs other assigned duties
