Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Skilled in reading and writing English
  • Ability to communicate clearly on radio and telephone
  • Ability to record, transmit, and report information accurately
  • Ability to efficiently utilize all equipment assigned
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Possess good typing skills with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to understand basic computer applications
  • Minimal medical training or telecommunications experience preferred
  • At least one year's experience as an EMS or public safety dispatcher preferred

Job Duties

  • Respond to customer needs accordingly
  • Understand medical terminology and implement critical listening skills to accurately process air transport requests
  • Allocate air resources properly following decision-making rules and approved protocols
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of paperwork related to position prior to shift completion
  • Enter data accurately and completely during the shift
  • Generate applicable reports and verify their accuracy
  • Assist in locating incident scenes and selecting safest, fastest routes using all locator aids
  • Relay instructions from supervisors and emergency messages
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums
  • Follow established parameters and formats in receiving service requests
  • Use equipment including computers, printers, 911 equipment, recording devices, telephones, and other assigned tools proficiently
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain competency and enhance professional growth through continuing education, conferences, and seminars
  • Exhibit positive behaviors, attitude, and commitment to interpersonal service
  • Comply with information systems security policies and report issues
  • Maintain required certifications and licensures
  • Attend department meetings, training sessions, and participate in quality improvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
