Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • skilled in reading and writing English
  • ability to communicate clearly on radio and telephone
  • ability to record, transmit, and report information accurately
  • ability to efficiently utilize all assigned equipment
  • ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • good typing skills with speed and accuracy
  • ability to understand basic computer applications
  • minimal medical training or telecommunications experience or at least one year's experience as EMS or public safety dispatcher

Job Duties

  • Respond to customer needs accordingly
  • understand medical terminology and adequately implement critical listening skills to accurately process air transport requests
  • allocate air resources properly by applying appropriate decision-making rules and approved protocols
  • be responsible and accountable for completeness and accuracy of paperwork prior to completion of shift
  • accurately and completely enter data for the shift
  • generate applicable reports and check for accuracy
  • assist in locating scene of incidents and selecting the safest, fastest route to the scene using all available locator aids
  • relay instructions from supervisors, messages and emergency information
  • maintain a current working knowledge of all company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums
  • follow established parameters and formats in receiving requests for service
  • responsibly use equipment including computers, printers, 911 equipment, recording devices, telephones, and others as assigned
  • adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • maintain competency and enhance professional growth through continuing education, conferences, and seminars
  • maintain positive behaviors, attitudes and commitment toward customer service
  • comply with information systems security policies and report problems
  • maintain all department required certifications and licensures
  • attend department meetings, training sessions and participate in quality improvement activities
  • perform other duties as assigned
