Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma required, some college or medical experience preferred
  • medical terminology required
  • computer proficiency required
  • knowledge of Microsoft applications required

  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • EMT preferred
  • previous aviation experience preferred
  • previous dispatch experience in EMS, fire, police, or air medical preferred
  • Certified Flight Coordinator Certification preferred but must obtain within one year of hire

Job Duties

  • assist all facilities with transfer process and paperwork
  • set up transport efficiently and timely
  • dispatch First Flight professionally and proactively
  • communicate with administrative staff, floor directors, and medical teams regarding transfers and admissions
  • document and maintain accurate patient data and scheduling information
  • problem solve basic hardware and software issues
  • initiate and follow through with performance improvement techniques
  • coordinate with patient logistics team on all transfers
  • obtain correct coordinates and input information into AeroMed
  • secure OCC number before flights lift off
  • page required specialty teams
  • track flights using Outerlink, GSpot or verbal techniques
  • relay reports from inbound aircraft to accepting units
  • input data into required databases accurately and timely
  • report weather turn downs to flight crew and agencies
  • follow PAIP guidelines during in-air incidents and coordinate search and rescue
  • maintain composure in emergencies and adapt to changes
  • communicate with multiple EMS dispatchers for emergency flight requests
  • update and monitor statewide EMS system
  • maximize reimbursement by utilizing correct transport service requests
  • assist with insurance information and transfer system authorizations
  • contribute to department operations within budget
  • screen direct admits for exceptions
  • assist registration with authorization requirements
