Job Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older at time of application
  • High school graduate or GED
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry
  • Must be able to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner loudly enough to be heard in an emergency
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations
  • Professional appearance with adherence to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines
  • Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months remaining prior to expiration
  • Ability to travel unrestricted to all United destinations
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stretch, lift heavy objects, and push beverage carts
  • Ability to pass functional reach assessment
  • Ability to sit in jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened
  • Required to serve and sell food and beverages professionally
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules supporting 24/7 operations
  • Must complete DOT drug screening, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests
  • Must pass FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens
  • Must pass 10-year background check including criminal history
  • Must meet FAA hearing and vision requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Two or more years of college preferred
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry such as retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, or social service
  • Must be able to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner loudly enough to be heard in an emergency
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
  • Professional appearance and excellent grooming standards
  • Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity prior to application
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions
  • Ability to meet FAA hearing and vision requirements

  • Adapt and respond to various customer-facing scenarios with optimism and positivity

  • Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
  • Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for days at a time
