Job Requirements
- Must be able to speak clearly and loudly enough to be heard in emergencies
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations such as evacuations and emergencies
- Willingness to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines
- Tattoos not permitted on head, hands, neck, including behind ear
- Visible tattoos must be smaller than a credit card or covered
- No decorative covers or jewelry on teeth or in mouth
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, push and pull beverage carts up to 250 lbs
- Must pass functional reach assessment without shoes
- Ability to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness
- Required to serve/sell food and beverages including alcohol professionally
- Must work a flexible schedule supporting 24/7 operations
- Must pass pre-employment DOT drug screen and randomized drug tests
- Must pass 10-year background check and criminal history clearance
- Must meet FAA and United hearing and vision standards
- Must complete water evacuation drill during training
- Must possess valid passport and be eligible to travel globally without restrictions
- Ability to travel to all countries United serves without restrictions
Job Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older at time of application
- High school graduate or GED
- Two or more years of college preferred
- At least one year of customer service experience in service industry such as retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, education, aviation, or social service
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
- Ability to speak German fluently
- Professional appearance and grooming standards
- Knowledge of operating electronic devices for work tasks
- Valid passport with at least 18 months remaining prior to expiration
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
