Job Requirements

  • must be 21 years of age or older at time of application
  • high school graduate or GED
  • 2 or more years of college preferred
  • at least one year customer service experience in retail, hospitality, food, teaching, education, aviation, or social service industries
  • ability to speak clearly and loudly in emergencies
  • fluent in English
  • ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations
  • professional appearance with grooming and uniform compliance
  • no visible tattoos larger than employee badge or offensive
  • able to operate phones, tablets, laptops
  • possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport with at least 18 months validity
  • ability to travel to all countries served by United without restrictions
  • physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stretch, lift heavy objects, and push carts
  • ability to pass a functional reach assessment
  • able to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt
  • required to sell and serve food and beverages including alcohol
  • legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • willing to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • able to complete evacuation drill in water
  • pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests
  • pass DOT/FAA drug screening
  • pass 10-year criminal background check
  • meet FAA and United hearing and vision requirements

Job Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older at time of application

  • ability to operate electronic devices
  • valid passport with at least 18 months remaining
  • ability to travel globally without restrictions
