Job Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older at time of application
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Ability to speak clearly and be heard in emergency situations
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Must be able to read and speak German fluently
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
  • Effective communication in high-stress situations
  • Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines
  • Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices for tasks
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months validity
  • Current physical possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport with applicable visas and no travel restrictions
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (up to 250 lbs), and push/pull beverage carts
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment
  • Ability to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened
  • Must serve and/or sell food and beverages professionally
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, background checks, fingerprinting, vision/hearing tests
  • Must pass DOT/FAA drug screens
  • Must pass a 10-year background check with no travel-prohibitive offenses
  • Must meet FAA and United vision and hearing requirements
  • Tattoos not permitted on head, hands, or neck and visible tattoos must meet size and content guidelines
  • No decorative dental jewelry permitted

Job Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older at time of application
  • High school graduate or GED
  • 2 or more years of college preferred
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry such as retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation or social service
  • Ability to speak clearly and be heard in emergency situations
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Ability to read and speak German fluently
  • Effective communication in high-stress situations
  • Professional appearance and grooming standards
  • Ability to operate electronic devices proficiently
  • Valid passport with at least 18 months validity
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United without restrictions
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts
  • Ability to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation
