Job Requirements
- One year of related experience in a food services environment or restaurant
- Ability to follow food safety protocols including HACCP guidelines
- Capacity to prepare regular and modified diet meals accurately and efficiently
- Flexibility to work day, afternoon, and evening shifts including weekends and holidays
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks
- Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas
- Effective communication skills for collaborative teamwork.
Job Qualifications
- Training in an apprenticeship program, vocation, or cooking school
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe certification
- One year of related experience in a food services environment or restaurant
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations
- Ability to follow recipes and prepare modified diet meals
- Skills in operating kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and sanitation standards.
Job Duties
- Followings the menu prepares and cooks food for all regular and modified diet meals assuring quantity, quality and timeliness of the meals according to designated recipes and daily production sheets
- Practices accepted HACCP food production and food handling principles
- Utilizes hairnet, gloves, apron, etc. to optimize infection control and cleanliness per regulations
- Reviews menus and prepares any food items that can be prepared in advance and stores appropriately
- Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food items
- Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, trimming meats for culinary use
- Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records to plan production and requisition supplies
- Opens and closes kitchen ensuring uninterrupted food supply and plans for substitutions
- Monitors quality of food and alerts Manager of substandard or spoiled items
- Ensures proper storage of frozen and refrigerated food items with appropriate labeling
- Assures food is stored properly post-meal and consults on leftovers and menu planning
- Cleans and oversees cleaning and sanitation of work area, kitchen, supply rooms, freezers and equipment
- Maintains collaborative team relationships to support positive work environment
- Reports problems concerning spoiled food, defective supplies, unsafe equipment or other unsafe conditions
- Performs routine manual tasks such as loading, unloading, sweeping and cleaning
- May produce food and serve customers at a la carte or operate a grill station.
