Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Minimum six months cook experience in restaurant, hospital or institutional food service
  • Ability to grill, fry, roast and bake as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and follow instructions in English
  • Availability to work on call during evening shift hours
  • Adherence to Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures
  • Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six months cook experience in restaurant, hospital, or institutional food service
  • Ability to grill, fry, roast, and bake standard menu items
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English
  • Preferred culinary arts degree or AA in institutional food preparation
  • Preferred knowledge of hospital food service operations

Job Duties

  • Prepare conventional and convenience type foods following established procedures
  • Use standard food service equipment like grill, oven, fryer to prepare menu items
  • Requisition or procure food supplies according to guidelines
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of food service work areas and stations
  • Replenish food items as needed for tray line, cafeteria, and catering services
  • Clean and decontaminate cooking utensils and dispose of waste properly
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards according to local, state, and federal regulations
