Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Active enrollment in an accredited Paramedic program
  • Certification as State of Washington Emergency Medical Service Paramedic upon program completion
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license
  • Successful completion of Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention training
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Physical and psychological fitness for duty
  • Pass written and CPAT tests
  • Submit City of Bremerton application with resume and proof of current enrollment in Paramedic program
  • Pass physical examination, psychological evaluation, background check and submit a current driver's abstract

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Active enrollment in an accredited Paramedic program
  • Certification as a State of Washington Emergency Medical Service Paramedic upon program completion
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license
  • Successful completion and maintenance of Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention training
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Physical and psychological readiness for firefighter and paramedic duties

Job Duties

  • Responds to emergency medical and fire calls using specialized medical protocols and equipment
  • Drives emergency vehicles, ambulances, apparatus and boats
  • Operates emergency communications devices during call response operations
  • Performs emergency fire suppression, rescue operations and first aid
  • Maintains readiness of facilities, apparatus, equipment, and supplies
  • Conducts inspections, investigations and code enforcement
  • Prepares detailed reports and participates in community education programs
