Job Requirements
- Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent
- Graduation from a California State Accredited Fire Academy or current enrollment with anticipated graduation date
- Valid California driver’s license prior to academy completion
- Current CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- State EMT-P or National Registry EMT-P license
- San Diego County EMT-P accreditation prior to academy completion
- Proof of successful Physical Abilities Test within 12 months
- Ability to work extended shift schedules including holidays and weekends
- Physical fitness and agility to perform all duties
- Submission of all required certifications with the application
- Background and medical examination including drug screening
Job Qualifications
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
- Graduation from a California State Accredited Fire Academy
- Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable
- Valid California driver’s license or obtain prior to completion of the fire academy
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR card
- State of California EMT-P license or National Registry EMT-P certificate
- Attainment of San Diego County EMT-P accreditation
- Proof of successful PAT completion within the past 12 months
- Ability to work shifts up to 24 hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends
- Physical agility to perform full range of duties
Job Duties
- Provide basic and advanced life support to victims of injury or sudden illness
- Perform firefighting, rescue and fire prevention activities
- Drive and operate all types of fire apparatus and equipment
- Perform station, equipment and apparatus maintenance
- Participate in training activities
- Perform related duties as required
