Job Requirements
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
- graduation from a California State Accredited Fire Academy or current enrollment with anticipated graduation by specific dates
- valid California driver’s license or must obtain prior to completion of the Fire Academy
- current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR card
- possession of state EMT-P license or national registry EMT-P certificate or verification of current enrollment in clinical or field internship in an accredited paramedic program
- attainment of San Diego County EMT-P accreditation prior to academy completion
- successful physical abilities test within the past 12 months
- ability to work 24-hour shifts including holidays, weekends, and evenings
- physical agility to perform full range of duties
- ability to pass background investigation, fingerprinting, and medical examination including drug screening
- submission of all required certifications with application
Job Qualifications
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
- graduation from a California State Accredited Fire Academy
- valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain prior to academy completion
- current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR card
- state of California EMT-P license or National Registry EMT-P certificate
- attainment of San Diego County EMT-P accreditation
- California Firefighter I Certification or verification of current enrollment in an accredited fire academy
- successful completion of a physical abilities test within the past 12 months
- strong physical agility and stamina
- effective communication and teamwork skills
- commitment to working shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends
Job Duties
- Provide basic and advanced life support to victims of injury or sudden illness
- perform firefighting, rescue and fire prevention activities
- drive and operate all types of fire apparatus and equipment
- perform station, equipment and apparatus maintenance
- participate in training activities
- respond to emergency calls and assist in disaster response
- maintain accurate records and reports
