Job Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Must participate in direct deposit/electronic transfer program
- Must provide documentation verifying qualifications
- Must obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance
- Must be a nonuser of tobacco or tobacco products for at least 1 year prior
- Must be physically fit as determined by medical examination
- Must comply with all Department of Military Affairs employment conditions
- Must submit valid Florida Firefighter Certification or equivalent for reciprocity
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- State of Florida Certificate of Compliance as a Firefighter obtained not earlier than 1998
- Department of Defense Firefighter Certifications including Fire Fighter II, Airport Fire Fighter, HAZMAT Operations, Driver/Operator Pumper, ARFF & Tender
- Completion of DoD Fire Protection School
- DoD Sponsored Career Development Courses or equivalent certifications accredited by IFSAC or national fire service accreditation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum security clearance of SECRET
- Good physical condition
- Proficiency in firefighting and rescue techniques
- Knowledge of self-contained breathing apparatus
- Ability to perform first aid
- Basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, and email
Job Duties
- Respond to all emergencies including aircraft, structural, vehicle, and wildland fires
- Provide hazardous material responses and contingency responses
- Perform emergency medical services within level of training
- Conduct building search and rescue operations
- Perform daily inspection and maintenance of firefighting apparatus and equipment
- Assist with fire protection activities including building inspections and fire drills
- Operate fire alarm control center, relay communications, and record data
