Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Must participate in direct deposit/electronic transfer program
  • Must provide documentation verifying qualifications
  • Must obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance
  • Must be a nonuser of tobacco or tobacco products for at least 1 year prior
  • Must be physically fit as determined by medical examination
  • Must comply with all Department of Military Affairs employment conditions
  • Must submit valid Florida Firefighter Certification or equivalent for reciprocity

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • State of Florida Certificate of Compliance as a Firefighter obtained not earlier than 1998
  • Department of Defense Firefighter Certifications including Fire Fighter II, Airport Fire Fighter, HAZMAT Operations, Driver/Operator Pumper, ARFF & Tender
  • Completion of DoD Fire Protection School
  • DoD Sponsored Career Development Courses or equivalent certifications accredited by IFSAC or national fire service accreditation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum security clearance of SECRET
  • Good physical condition
  • Proficiency in firefighting and rescue techniques
  • Knowledge of self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Ability to perform first aid
  • Basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, and email

Job Duties

  • Respond to all emergencies including aircraft, structural, vehicle, and wildland fires
  • Provide hazardous material responses and contingency responses
  • Perform emergency medical services within level of training
  • Conduct building search and rescue operations
  • Perform daily inspection and maintenance of firefighting apparatus and equipment
  • Assist with fire protection activities including building inspections and fire drills
  • Operate fire alarm control center, relay communications, and record data
