Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Must obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance
  • Possess State of Florida Certificate of Compliance as a Firefighter obtained no earlier than 1998
  • Department of Defense required certifications attained within 12 months of employment
  • Successful completion of drug screening
  • Participation in direct deposit program
  • Provide documentation verifying minimum qualifications
  • Good physical condition as determined by annual medical exam
  • Nonuser of tobacco products for at least one year prior to application

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Florida Certificate of Compliance as a Firefighter
  • Department of Defense certifications including Fire Fighter II, Airport Fire Fighter, HAZMAT Operations, Driver/Operator Pumper, ARFF & Tender
  • Completion of DoD Fire Protection School and Career Development Courses or equivalent
  • Valid Florida driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain SECRET security clearance
  • Proficiency in firefighting and rescue techniques
  • Knowledge of fire suppression systems and self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Strong communication and computer skills

Job Duties

  • Respond to emergencies including aircraft, structural, vehicle, and wildland fires
  • Provide hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction response
  • Conduct aircraft emergency operations including extraction, evacuation, and rescue
  • Perform daily inspection and preventative maintenance of firefighting equipment and apparatus
  • Conduct fire prevention activities including building inspections and fire drills
  • Operate fire alarm control center and manage communication protocols
  • Provide emergency medical services as required within individual training limits
