Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required
- Males must be registered for Selective Service
- Position centrally managed by the Civil Engineer Career Field
- PCS costs paid IAW JTR and Air Force regulations

Job Qualifications
- One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09 or equivalent for current and prior federal employees
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-10 level or equivalent for external applicants
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health management systems applicable to fire service
- Knowledge of safety hazards associated with emergency operations and fire science
- Knowledge of hazardous materials emergency response procedures
- Knowledge of firefighting and rescue operations
- Ability to operate under stressful and dangerous conditions
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to track trends and reduce hazardous conditions
- Certifications including Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Airport Fire Fighter
- Must be certified as Fire Department Health and Safety Officer and Incident Safety Officer within one year
- Meet all Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0081 Fire Protection Series
Job Duties
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate activities to implement a comprehensive Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program
- Prepare and develop Flight Management Plans and Standard Operation Policies
- Manage the Hazardous Materials Response Program
- Serve as primary Incident Safety Officer and respond to emergency incidents
- Plan investigations and analyze mishaps and hazardous conditions
- Prepare detailed reports on findings
- Provide consultation and guidance on all aspects of Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety
