Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of five years of experience in fire science or fire prevention or equivalent related experience
  • Valid Nevada driver's license at time of appointment and maintained throughout employment
  • Ability to work in large public spaces and office settings
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk, run, stand, climb, and work from elevated locations
  • Ability to operate equipment such as valves and pumps
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle
  • Must obtain ICC Fire Inspector I certification within one year of hire

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of five years of experience in fire science or fire prevention
  • Working knowledge of fire prevention practices, methodologies, fire and building codes, regulations, statutes, and standards
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Skilled in creating and managing professional documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and correspondence
  • Demonstrates effective interactions with peers, management, outside contractors, and other departments
  • Must hold or obtain International Code Council Fire Inspector I certification within one year of hire

Job Duties

  • Provide guidance to show management, decorators, exhibitor appointed contractors, and convention service managers to ensure trade shows and exhibitors comply with facility guide requirements
  • Review booth and floor plan submissions for compliance with Clark County Fire Codes, International Fire Codes, and LVCVA Facility Guide standards
  • Inspect exhibit halls, lobbies, and meeting rooms for fire hazards and code violations and take corrective action as needed
  • Issue Hot Work permits for activities producing sparks or open flame, including contractor work, Ambassador work, and show move-in/move-out operations
  • Participate in pre- and post-conference meetings to communicate fire prevention plans and activities for specific trade shows, conferences, or LVCVA events
  • Serve as LVCVA's liaison to regulatory agencies including OSHA and Clark County
  • Support training for Ambassadors and contribute to developing and revising fire safety and OSHA-related policies, procedures, and initiatives
  • Support the emergency notification system, fire extinguishers, and sprinkler systems
  • respond to system alarms and operational issues
  • and manage sprinkler impairments in line with LVCVA procedures
  • Conduct ongoing fire prevention risk assessments of the facility and follow up on identified deficiencies
  • Coordinate scheduling and assignments of on-call Fire Prevention Technicians to ensure adequate coverage for event move-ins, show days, and move-outs
  • Prepare reports and maintain records to ensure accurate documentation of fire prevention activities
  • Develop and deliver training on fire safety topics such as hot work, fire extinguisher use, workplace fire prevention, and cart safety
  • Oversee the registration, inspection, documentation, and fee collection for bicycles and carts used on property by decorators and EACs
  • Provide guidance to Ambassadors and leadership on hazard elimination, risk management, and compliance
  • Stay current with local and state fire codes and regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
