Job Requirements

  • Residency in the United States and within 25 miles of the City of San Luis
  • high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • valid Arizona driver’s license
  • State of Arizona Hazardous Materials First Responders Awareness (FRA) and Hazardous Materials First Responders Operations (FRO) certifications
  • Firefighter I and II or equivalent certifications
  • certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or certified Emergency Paramedic
  • availability to work flexible schedule
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 150 pounds
  • willingness to attend training sessions and community education programs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • valid Arizona driver’s license
  • state of Arizona Hazardous Materials First Responders Awareness (FRA) and Hazardous Materials First Responders Operations (FRO) certifications
  • Firefighter I and II or other equivalent certifications that meet prerequisite requirements
  • certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or certified Emergency Paramedic
  • ability to think and act quickly and effectively in emergencies and stressful situations
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to prepare and maintain records and reports
  • willingness to work flexible schedules
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Job Duties

  • Respond to fire, medical, and other emergency calls for assistance
  • extinguish fires and conduct search and rescue operations
  • operate fire and rescue vehicles, equipment, and pumps
  • assess medical needs, provide basic emergency medical care, and transport patients to the hospital
  • check assigned apparatus for medical supplies and equipment and clean and disinfect vehicle and equipment
  • perform operator-level inspection, servicing, fueling, and maintenance of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • conduct inspections of commercial, residential, and industrial facilities for fire hazards and regulatory compliance
  • prepare routine, periodic, special reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • perform general housekeeping of the fire station and surrounding grounds
  • conduct community education programs for fire prevention, safety, CPR, and First Aid
  • attend educational and physical training sessions
  • provide public assistance and perform special duties as required
  • perform other related duties as assigned
