Job Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of food preparation and service experience
  • ServSafe certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of employment
  • Knowledge of food handlers and safety regulations
  • Proven track record of integrity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must be detail oriented and accurate
  • Ability to multitask while working in a pressured environment
  • Verbal and writing abilities to communicate effectively with staff, residents, family members, and the public
  • Numerical ability to make computations in work records and recipe preparation
  • Motor coordination and manual dexterity to prepare food and operate dietary equipment
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, and work assignments
  • Ability to work flexible hours including emergencies
  • Patience and tolerance towards staff, residents, and family members

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
  • Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special requests
  • Ensure food is prepared at proper temperatures and associated checklists and logs are completed
  • Assist with inventory management and the receiving of goods from vendors
  • Work with the Executive Chef/Cottage Manager/Chef Manager to coordinate menus or special requests
  • Adapt schedule when necessary to accommodate emergency situations
