Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of core finance/accounting experience (internships count)
- working knowledge of sound financial practices
- proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups)
- experience providing finance support to internal customers
- ability to prepare accurate schedules and resolve variances
- substantial finance/accounting experience (3+ years) for Financial Analyst II
- strong understanding of financial workflow optimization
- expertise in financial modeling and consolidating data
- ability to meet recurring deadlines
- skilled in interpreting and applying finance policies in complex environments
- confidentiality and attention to detail required
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, information science, or related field
- proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and lookups
- experience providing finance support to internal customers
- ability to perform financial analysis and develop solutions
- knowledge of GAAP and general ledger processing
- familiarity with workflow optimization and financial reporting
- experience with ERP and business intelligence tools preferred
- strong communication and stakeholder partnership skills
- ability to coach peers and standardize practices
- experience meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects
- attention to detail and confidentiality
- preferred experience in higher education, academic medicine, or healthcare settings
- preferred knowledge of Workday and Oracle Fusion ERPs
- preferred skills in budget development and reporting
- preferred advanced Excel and data visualization skills
- experience drafting SOPs and training materials
Job Duties
- Conduct monthly variance analysis by cost center and expense category
- identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and prepare leadership summaries
- respond to UW Health financial inquiries with audit-ready documentation
- collaborate with faculty and staff leaders to support the annual operating budget process
- map approved decisions to cost centers and budget categories with version control
- produce documentation for budget traceability and execution
- serve as the department lead on UW Health expense and accounts payable policies
- guide faculty and residents on reimbursement allowability, documentation, and exceptions
- lead processing of faculty/residency reimbursements and complex accounts payable transactions
- maintain documentation, route approvals, and ensure proper controls
- ensure accurate coding, documentation, and policy compliance
- support implementation of AI-assisted reimbursement workflows
- partner with fiscal leadership to enhance processes and leverage technology (Oracle, Workday, AI)
- develop SOPs, guides, and training materials
- coordinate with SMPH and UW Health to align workflows
- benchmark best practices and pilot measurable improvements
