Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior coaching experience preferred
  • availability to work scheduled hours on Saturdays and Mondays
  • ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults
  • commitment to professional and respectful conduct
  • ability to attend continuing education and staff meetings
  • reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years previous coaching experience preferred
  • 5+ years competitive skating experience preferred
  • knowledge of the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills program
  • knowledge of generally accepted coaching techniques
  • skill in organizing large groups of skaters
  • ability to maintain effective working relationships with instructors and management

Job Duties

  • Provide instruction to youth and adults
  • demonstrate proper use of equipment and techniques
  • explain and enforce safety rules and regulations
  • keep records and coordinate events
  • keep management and parents informed of activities and issues
  • record attendance at each class
  • instruct students on elements of their class level
  • evaluate students on testing day and complete required forms
  • input student levels into registration program
  • encourage appropriate student behavior
  • model respectful behavior and language
  • attend continuing education seminars
  • participate in staff meetings
  • assist the Skating Coordinator with duties
  • notify about absences and arrange substitutes
  • complete additional assigned duties
