Job Requirements
- Minimum of a two-year college degree or equivalent field experience
- Industry certifications such as CCENT, CCNA, VCP, MCSA, MCSE, or CCA
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Inherent troubleshooting skills
- Practical hands-on technical experience
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft products, virtualization solutions (VMware ideally), Citrix solutions, Symantec backup and protection solutions, third-party utilities, local and wide-area networks, hardware, and desktop operating systems
- Availability for significant regional travel without overnight stays
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly through manuals, web searches, and experience
- Creative and resourceful problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain composed and confident under stress
- Ability to work independently in client-facing environments
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of a two-year college degree or equivalent field experience
- Possess industry certifications such as CCENT, CCNA, VCP, MCSA, MCSE, or CCA
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate inherent troubleshooting skills
- Practical hands-on technical experience
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft products, virtualization solutions (VMware ideally), Citrix solutions, Symantec backup and protection solutions, third-party utilities, local and wide-area networks, hardware, and desktop operating systems (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11)
- Familiarity with network operating systems (Windows 2008, 2012, 2019, 2022)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server versions 2007, 2010, 2013
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with VMware vSphere 5.5 and related technologies
- Knowledge of anti-virus, anti-spam, and anti-spyware tools
- Experience with Backup Exec and Systems Recovery Server
- Understanding of thin client technologies (Citrix and RDS), firewalls, routers, managed switches (Cisco a plus)
- Knowledge of LAN, WAN, and wireless networking hardware and software
- Experience with systems management software such as HP PSP and Dell OpenManage
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies independently
- Creative and resourceful in developing client solutions
- Ability to remain composed and confident under stress
- Ability to work independently in front of clients
Job Duties
- Perform desktop installs
- Install network hardware including switches and access points
- Install firewalls
- Implement unified communication systems such as VoIP
- Conduct ISP cutovers
- Assist other engineers with project tasks
- Perform network administration including server health checks, backup and restore tests, antivirus updates, OS service packs, and server event log reviews
- Resolve network problems as an internal network administrator
- Review and recommend improvements for network infrastructure
- Conduct scheduled onsite dispatches for unresolved remote issues
