Job Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time 6 credit hours undergraduate 3 credit hours graduate
  • Maintain TAMIU overall GPA 2.0 undergraduate 3.0 graduate
  • Complete file with Office of Financial Aid
  • Demonstrate financial need via FAFSA annually
  • U.S. citizen permanent resident or eligible non-citizen
  • Meet TAMIU Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
  • Obtain CPR/AED certification within 60 days
  • Obtain First Aid certification within 60 days
  • On campus face-to-face interactions
  • Maintain regular attendance on campus
  • Some evening and weekend work
  • Work schedule does not conflict with class schedule
  • Complete all required training
  • Input hours and submit timesheet biweekly
  • May require moving and lifting objects

Job Qualifications

  • Enrolled at least half-time with minimum 6 credit hours per semester undergraduate and 3 credit hours graduate
  • Maintain overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate and 3.0 for graduates
  • Current and complete file with Office of Financial Aid
  • Demonstrated financial need through FAFSA application
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen
  • Meet TAMIU Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy requirements
  • Knowledge in fitness field or personal trainer certification or seeking certification
  • CPR/AED certification obtained within 60 days of employment
  • First Aid certification obtained within 60 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Assist with the daily operations of the Rec Center including Weight Room, Functional Room, and Game Room under supervision
  • Assist front desk personnel with marketing and sale of memberships and equipment
  • Implement university policies and KWRC guidelines to ensure a safe and positive environment
  • Assist with member verification to facilitate proper access
  • Implement proper protocol for opening and closing procedures including equipment setup and securing the facility
  • Provide assistance with inventory control and check-out procedures for intramural equipment
  • Mentor new student employees to communicate guidelines and procedures
  • Assist with outreach programs for elementary, middle, and high school students
  • Participate in departmental meetings and set up equipment for activities
  • Provide information and recommendations on fitness classes
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by caring for equipment
  • Provide orientation and guidance on equipment utilization and strength conditioning
  • Implement emergency protocols including CPR, evacuation, and blood borne pathogen handling
  • Provide excellent customer service to promote participation and healthy lifestyle
  • Perform physical tasks including moving, lifting, bending, kneeling, and stooping
