Job Requirements
- Must be able to perform medium work including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and 20 pounds frequently
- Visual ability to see from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with depth perception and color vision
- Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Willingness to work night and weekend shifts
- Must adhere to company policies including personal hygiene and dress codes
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment with exposure to temperature extremes, cleaning chemicals and machinery
- Must report to work when scheduled and on time
Job Qualifications
- No formal education required
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Must possess problem-solving skills for practical situations with limited standardization
- Ability to file, post, and mail materials
- Equipment operation skills including cash register and pallet jacks
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Familiarity with sanitation and safety procedures
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a positive attitude
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to the products they are looking for, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer suggestions or requests
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Operates cash register accurately and scans products, reports improper cash levels
- Redeems promotional coupons, food stamps, receives cash, checks, completes credit-card charge transactions, figures discounts, counts back change and issues receipts
- Places merchandise in bags or boxes and gives packages to customers
- Assists with inventory of the department
- Receives and checks in delivered merchandise and places in appropriate storage area
- Fills displays and stocks shelves
- Ensures proper maintenance of lot by shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and hosing down lot
- Fills outside towel holders and replenishes window washer fluid
- Removes trash inside and outside in a timely manner
- Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices
- Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is clean and neat
- Cleans registers, restrooms, break room, backroom, sweeps and mops the floor, and tends to supply needs
- Maintains strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Adheres to company policies and store guidelines
- Reports to work scheduled and on time
- Orders merchandise and supplies as needed
- Prices products for customers as necessary
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
