Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree
  • valid Hawaii teaching license or emergency hire permit upon hire
  • enrollment in a Teacher's Education Program within three years if not licensed at hire
  • demonstrable progress towards Hawaii licensing requirements
  • alignment of Teacher Education Program with teaching line

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree
  • valid Hawaii teaching license or emergency hire permit
  • active pursuit of Hawaii teaching license if initially hired without
  • knowledge of culinary arts and foodservice industry standards
  • experience in teaching or training culinary skills
  • strong communication and organizational skills
  • ability to foster partnerships with local industry

Job Duties

  • teach fundamental and advanced culinary techniques
  • provide instruction on food safety, sanitation, and nutrition
  • guide students through the Culinary Arts Program of Study within the Public Services Academy
  • act as an industry liaison to establish partnerships for internships and real-world experiences
  • organize student participation in competitions and catering events
  • manage curriculum development and student assessment
  • promote understanding of business aspects of foodservice such as recipe costing and inventory
