Job Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of six months cooking experience
  • Professional culinary education is preferred
  • Must be able and willing to follow established recipes
  • Communication skills in English are preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a KTTT Gaming Commission License with background check
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must comply with KLEC policies and gaming regulations
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb and bend for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person or via telecommunications
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely

Job Qualifications

  • Six months experience as a cook preferred
  • Professional training through culinary education preferred
  • Ability to follow established recipes
  • Communication skills in English both written and oral preferred
  • Spanish or other language skills a plus
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with management and staff
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and guest service skills
  • Positive attitude with strong organizational and leadership qualities
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to understand complex instructions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to follow established guest service programs

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Tribal, Federal and gaming regulations and policies
  • Ensure the highest standards of guest service by listening and responding to guest and team concerns
  • Provide high quality, fresh hot and cold food items in a timely manner using standardized recipes
  • Prepare food items consistently with minimal variation in taste and appearance
  • Use approved recipes and practice portion control to minimize waste
  • Control food production by following proper cooking methods, times and temperatures
  • Ensure proper food storage, preparation times and sanitation practices
  • Label and date all refrigerated food items and rotate them properly
  • Organize and clean refrigerated and dry storage areas
  • Maintain sanitized and organized workstations during shifts
  • Clean workstations immediately after food preparation
  • Understand food costs and minimize waste to improve financial performance
  • Maintain meats, poultry, seafood and perishables at required cooking and holding temperatures
  • Stay updated on safe cooking and holding temperatures according to food safety standards
  • Follow culinary methods such as broiling, braising, roasting, poaching, sauce preparation and meat carving
  • Plan and organize the daily work schedule to meet goals
  • Maintain kitchen safety, sanitation and care of kitchen equipment
  • Operate kitchen equipment including stoves, broilers, deep fryers, microwaves and knives
  • Report any injuries immediately and follow proper handwashing and sanitation
  • Prepare food for special events and cater meetings when assigned
  • Taste check and sample prepared food to ensure quality
  • Promote KLECH core values and MAD skills
  • Manage confidential information securely
  • Attend and complete all required training
  • Monitor and comply with currency transaction reporting and anti-money laundering policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
