Job Requirements

  • Education level of 6 years of progressive experience in hotel or related field or equivalent college education
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Windows and spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation, health and liquor laws
  • Capacity to work long hours and perform medium physical work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Attendance at mandatory hotel meetings and training
  • Adherence to company standards for appearance and conduct
  • Problem-solving capability and discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to maintain professional and courteous interactions with employees and guests
  • Willingness to perform tasks assigned by management

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a 4-year college degree with at least 3 years of related experience or a 2-year degree with 4 or more years of related experience
  • Proficiency in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules, liquor laws, and regulations
  • Ability to work long hours
  • Medium physical work capability including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all employee levels and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand and clarify concerns from employees and guests
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented approach
  • Attendance at all required meetings and trainings
  • Participation in manager on duty coverage as required
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Compliance with safety standards and regulations

Job Duties

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees
  • Supervise all food and beverage personnel
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Prepare the food and beverage budget and monitor department performance including forecasting
  • Monitor industry trends and take appropriate action to maintain competitive and profitable operations
  • Work with executive committee members and keep them informed of food and beverage issues
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of problems or matters requiring attention
  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of loss prevention in the food and beverage department
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner
  • Organize and conduct regular department meetings
  • Monitor quality of service and product
  • Cooperate in menu planning and preparation
  • Ensure timely purchase of food and beverage items within budget
  • Oversee employee cafeteria operations
  • Ensure compliance with liquor laws and health regulations
  • Ensure departmental compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Train department heads on SOPs and job tasks
  • Attend and/or conduct departmental and hotel training sessions
  • Interview candidates for front-of-house positions with hiring approvals
  • Conduct or attend all required meetings including pre- and post-convention meetings
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
