Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality from an accredited program
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience in Culinary Arts
  • Ability to teach students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Commitment to ethical standards and professional conduct
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of student information
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Compliance with college policies and safety procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality from an accredited program
  • Certification with a Food Handlers Certificate

  • Preferred ServSafe Managers Certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and online learning management systems
  • Experience with active and applied teaching methodologies
  • Knowledge of multicultural classroom teaching practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to teach a diverse student population effectively

Job Duties

  • Prepare and teach courses in culinary arts, baking, and pastry to a multicultural student population based on approved course outcomes
  • Participate in departmental responsibilities including curriculum review, program review, and assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes
  • Serve as a mentor to students in the Culinary Arts program
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services without discrimination
  • Remain current in the field through professional development
  • Support division and department goals through engagement in decision-making and planning
  • Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Assist and support in managing Culinary, Baking, and Pastry spaces
  • Participate in evening and weekend duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate proficiency using computer applications and online learning management systems
  • Use the college's learning management system appropriately
  • Meet deadlines for attendance and grading
  • Participate in graduation and official college functions
  • Maintain regular office hours
  • Attend and participate in collegewide and departmental meetings
  • Maintain civility and collegiality
  • Comply with college policies and professional teaching standards
