Job Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho driver's license
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including long or unusual hours, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime, including a 24-hr call out in order to respond to unforeseen events
  • Attend SLD Safety Training twice a year
  • This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing
  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles safely, including a willingness to learn how to operate a backhoe, forklift, and dump truck
  • Ability to work around livestock and related animals
  • Ability to work onsite at Expo Idaho both inside and outside with exposure to inclement weather and heavy equipment traffic
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as needed including safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields
  • Ability to work from ladders and aerial platforms, including at heights up to 60 feet
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Ability to use tools, ladders, and outdoor power equipment with care

Job Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of facilities preferred
  • Knowledge of how to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with simple fractions to measure material according to requirements and dimensions outlined in instructions
  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and protocols
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients and patrons
  • Ability to operate equipment and tools safely
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance/service manuals

Job Duties

  • Ensures that facilities are set-up, presentable, and meets client’s expectations for interim events
  • Assists, sets-up, and provides power needs and other amenities for interim events
  • Performs light janitorial duties to maintain overall cleanliness of facilities
  • Maintains grounds
  • Conducts routine, preventative maintenance on tools or building equipment
  • Inspects and examines buildings, fixtures, and other functional systems to determine the need for repair or maintenance
  • Records documentation of maintenance and repair work
  • Performs a variety of minor building or landscaping maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, and sprinkler repair
  • Assists in a helper capacity in more semi-skilled work such as plumbing, electrical, or related tasks
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools
  • May train to operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts, as needed
  • Communicate with clients and co-workers in an effective and professional manner
  • Assists Event Coordinator, Security, and other staff to accomplish needed tasks
  • Transports, follows policies, and supervises crews with Sheriff’s Labor Detail (SLD) in the performance of a wide variety of unskilled labor tasks
  • Performs related functions as required
